Please read this information in advance.

▶This section provides information on the procedure for canceling or changing the test date, as well as the required fees for those taking IELTS at IDP test center (JP033, JP035).

▶In Japan, IELTS is administered by IDP and the British Council (implementing organizations: Eiken Foundation of Japan, UK Plus), and this is the official website of IDP. Although they are exactly the same official IELTS test, the booking system, test venues, and test dates are different. Please note that the cancellation and change rules are also different.

Cancellation requests must be received by the test center by 5:00 p.m. five days prior to the test date. Cancellations made after that period will not be eligible for a refund.

<Cases in which the examination fee can be refunded due to absence on the day of the examination>

(a) If you have a serious condition that makes it impossible for you to take the test on the test date. Minor injuries, colds, etc. are not acceptable. Depending on the contents of the medical certificate, some cases may not be eligible for reimbursement.

(b) Death of a relative within the third degree of kinship and attendance at the funeral.

(c) Circumstances where public transportation is not functioning and it is clearly impossible to come to the examination site.

*In any of the above cases (a, b, or c), a certificate of proof of the situation must be submitted. Please email the following documents to the test center within 5 days of the test date.

(a)Medical certificate (with signature of the doctor in charge and the hospital seal)

(b) Letter of thanks for the meeting

(c) Certificate of delay

Once your application is accepted, we will refund the remaining balance after deducting a handling fee (6,050 yen). Please note that your application will be cancelled even if the cancellation was processed in error.

◆Test date change◆


Please contact the test center by 5:00 p.m. five days prior to the test date to request a schedule change.


There is no change fee, but as a rule this can only be done once.

If you wish to take the test at another test center, you will need to cancel your reservation and make a new one.

Note: Speaking test times will be determined and informed by the test center.

◆Module change◆


Module changes must be notified to the test center at least 5 days prior to the test. Module changes cannot be made after the deadline. Please be sure to check with the institution submitting your results before applying.


There is no change fee.

Note: Speaking test times will be determined and informed by the test center.

◆Additional Test Report Form (TRF)◆

You may request up to five 5 additional copies of TRF to be sent to Receiving Institutions within 2 years after the written tests are conducted for free of charge. More than 5 TRFs are subject to an extra fee (1,200 JPY for each TRF).

These are sent directly to the organizations of your choice. If you would like TRFs sent by mail with tracking number, you will be charged 2,500JPY for each TRF. If the organizations accept electronic submission of scores, then that can be sent electronically.

▶Fee and Postage (Payment : Credit card)

・Up to 5 additional copies of TRF: Free of Charge

・More than 5 additional copies of TRF: 1,200 JPY (inclusive of 10% tax)

・Postage for Registered Mail (EMS): 2,500 JPY (inclusive of 10% tax)

・International Courier (FedEx): 10,000 JPY (inclusive of 10% tax)

▶How to apply

・At booking: Enter the details of organization.

・After the test: Please submit the "IDP-IELTS Change Request Formexternal icon". Your test centre will contact you shortly after confirming the content.

◆Enquiry on Results (EOR)◆

To be fair to all test takers, if you are not happy with your result you can apply for an Enquiry on Results within six weeks of the test date.

Your test will then be sent to the head office of IDP IELTS Australia team in the global head office of IDP Education for re-marking by trained clerical markers and senior examiners who are not made aware of your original results. This ensures the re-assessment process is fair and unbiased.

▶Fee : 15,000JPY (inclusive of tax), Payment : Credit card

You can choose to have one or more parts of your test re-marked; however, the fee is the same regardless. This fee is refunded if there is an increase in score for the module(s) remarked. This process can take 2-4 weeks.

The test center will contact you via email with instructions on how to transfer the fee.
