History

1969 Established as Australian Asian Universities Cooperation Scheme (AAUCS)

1981 Name changed to International Development Program (IDP). Opened an office in Jakarta, Indonesia. Subsequently, offices were opened in various parts of the world to serve students who wished to study at Australian universities, particularly in Asia.

1989 Started providing IELTS by IDP, British Council and University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

2009 Began providing study abroad support services to American universities

2010 Expanded to China, India and Egypt. Also entered the UK study abroad support business.

2011 Began providing study abroad support in Canada and New Zealand. After that, we expanded our business to Turkey and Jordan.

2015 Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX)

2016 We entered into a partnership with JP112 (Japan Study Abroad Foundation (JSAF)), the first official test center for IDPs in Japan, and started IELTS testing in the Kanto region.

In the same year, IDP expanded our network to Bahrain, Italy, Lebanon, and Spain.

2017 Acquired Hotcourses Group, a leading course search database and student engagement company, and integrated it into the organization under a new division called IDP Connect

2018 Opened JP114 (Japan Study Abroad Foundation (JSAF)), the second official test center in Japan, in Osaka. This is the second official IELTS test center in Japan.

In November of the same year, IDP Education Japan, LLC was established to develop the IELTS testing business in Japan.

2019 In May, IDP entered into a partnership with JP031 (Kitakyushu Prep School), the third official test center in Japan, to offer IELTS testing in the Kyushu region.

In August, we began offering the "Computerized IELTS" test at our test center in Tokyo (JP112).

In November, the IDP IELTS Sapporo Test Center was established in Sapporo, Japan, the fourth test center in Japan and the first IDP test center in Japan.

2020 In June, IDP entered into a partnership with Berkeley House, Inc. to launch the fifth official IELTS test center in Japan, JP034, in Ichigaya, Tokyo.

In August, we started a computerized IELTS test at our Osaka test center (JP114).

In December, we entered into a business alliance with Inter Support to expand the test in Sendai.

In December, we entered into a business alliance with ICC Consultants, Inc. to expand our test services in Osaka.

2021 In May, we will start offering the "Computer-based IELTS" test at ICC Consultants Osaka as an off-site test center for the IDP IELTS Sapporo Test Center.

In July, the IDP IELTS Tokyo Test Center was established as an off-site test center for the IDP IELTS Sapporo Test Center, at the Kyoto Station School of Kyoshin TOP Σ. In September, the IDP IELTS Tokyo Test Center was established in Higashi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, as the fifth test center in Japan and the second IDP test center in Japan. "The second IDP IELTS test center was established in Higashi-Shinjuku, Tokyo. In November, a paper-based IELTS test was held at the Okinawa Institute of Business and Language as an off-site test center for the IDP IELTS Sapporo Test Center.

2022 In February, published IDP's first official preparation book with English Innovation Co.

In July, we have started booking "IELTS Online", which test takers can take at home.

2023 In February, "IELTS on paper" will begin in Fukuoka as an off-site testing site of IDP IELTS Sapporo Test Center.

In April, the IDP directly-managed "IDP IELTS Osaka Test Centre" (IELTS on computer) opened in Room 504, 5F, Umeda Pacific Building, 2-5-10 Sonezaki, Kita-ku, Osaka.

In July, "IELTS on paper" will begin in Tottori as an off-site testing site of IDP IELTS Osaka Test Center.

In October, "IELTS on paper" will begin in Takamatsu as an off-site testing site of IDP IELTS Osaka Test Center.

2024 In May , the IDP IELTS Tokyo Test Center formed a business alliance with English Innovations to offer IELTS on computer in Yokohama.
