Teacher training workshop by an IELTS expert

IELTS is one of the four English language proficiency tests that are attracting increasing attention in Japan, and is known for its high international validity as an English proficiency test for study abroad and immigration. The high quality of the test has been highly evaluated by universities in Japan, and it is now being used for AO and recommendation entrance examinations. For this reason, there is a growing demand from English teachers of high school and university students to learn how to teach IELTS effectively.

IDP Education, the leading provider of IELTS, is pleased to announce a free online workshop for teachers of IELTS in Japan. We hope you will find it useful in your field!

From Sentence to Essay – Helping students attain band score 5.5 in IELTS Writing Task 2

Date & Time: January 21, 2024 3pm-6pm (JST)

Description: IDP IELTS is hosting an interactive webinar exclusively for school teachers in Japan aimed at teaching essential writing skills required to formulate comprehensive essays. The trainer will suggest ways to improve the basic world knowledge of the students while keeping pace with the prescribed classroom curriculum. The trainer will then show how to interpret an essay title and compile the arguments in logically laid out paragraphs which address all parts of an IELTS Writing Task 2 question. There will also be some focus on how the effective use of cohesive devices, referencing and substitution increase the overall cohesiveness of an IELTS essay.

Although this workshop is geared towards teaching relevant skills for the IELTS Writing test, the strategies discussed will be useful for academic essay writing in general. The trainer will demonstrate how teachers can apply these methodologies in their own classrooms and will share some sample resources that can be adapted to suit teachers’ individual requirements. Teachers will have peer discussions during the session and will get a chance to ask questions of the trainer before the end of the webinar.

*Same seminar content as January and June 2023; those who have attended once are also welcome to attend.
